I met Trent Mitchell once, his girl went to school with my girl, he wouldn’t remember me. But I’ve admired his work for a long time. TMP is an ocean photographer, not limited to surf, most of his images don’t even feature a human. His first book, Chasing the Curve was just that, portraits of the sea. The follow up was in a similar vain, Above/Below clearly showcased the two contrasting sides to the ocean and its movements.
If anyone has spent a considerable amount of time in the ocean amongst big, heavy waves, then they understand that what he achieves in the water with a big heavy weight at the end of his arm is pretty amazing.
With two books under his belt, a huge folio of professional work and a bunch of awards under his belt, this dude is living the life and making it work.
