We set off to explore the North Coast, New South Wales as we continue our On The Road Australia adventure! In this episode we visited and featured the ultimate travellers Karstan and Maxine who’ve been on the road cruising the country in their trusty VW Kombi.
We spent a night camping at the beautiful Treachery Camp at Seal Rocks, as well as the serene site at Lake Arragan, and managed to catch some waves in Crescent Head and Byron Bay. We’ve had an awesome adventure so far; we drove from the South Coast all the way up to the North – exploring more than just famous landmarks and epic homes along the way of course. There’s a whole lot more in store, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
We head to Newcastle to visit ultimate travellers, Karstan and Maxine. Along with their beautiful daughter Zuri, this radiant, Newcastle based couple and former The Block stars hopped into their 1968 VW Kombi, which they consider a part of their family, and did an amazing trip around Australia They’ve been on an adventure that completely changed their lives, and they’re loving every second of it.
Karstan and Maxine have been travelling the world for years but they’ve decided to finally settle down in their homeland. They found that all of the wonderful memories they were chasing overseas were just waiting at home, so now there’s nothing stopping them from exploring it! The couple usually maps out their bucket list destinations and then hits the road to wherever each day takes them. They’ve found that every trip has so many new highlights because they never know what’s going to happen next!
After visiting Karstan and Maxine we headed to Treachery Camp at Seal Rocks, one of NSW’s true hidden gems where we spent the night. This area offers an unspoilt coastal retreat and a great bush camping experience. We got caught in an ugly storm overnight but when morning came around we decided to go straight to Crescent Head to test out not only my brand new surfboard but also my new-found surfing skills!
We then drove up to Lake Arragan to camp one last night. This campsite, located on the northern side of the Yuraygir National Park, offers peaceful lakeside camping as well as a great spot for swimming or canoeing. We also had a blast surfing at Byron Bay before finally heading to the Gold Coast.
