It’s been 23 years since Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain took his own life and his music lingers larger than ever, continuing to influence and inspire artists around the globe to this day. It’s an old adage that the true test of a song is for it to still stand up in a stripped back acoustic setting and this MTV Unplugged album proved just that for Kurt’s catalog. This was the first Nirvana CD I ever got and found it a great introduction to the music of Nirvana, letting each song’s subtleties and nuances translate so clearly.
I’ll be DJing at a Nirvana tribute party tonight at Ding Dong Lounge if you feel like a rock’n’roll style boogie later. Use the password “Lithium” at the door for half price entry. Have a great weekend!
