Can we just celebrate two of our favourite things for a moment? Food and Design. More specifically really, really good, mouth-watering food and the most exquisite, original hospitality design.
Are there any other two topics that we all can’t get enough of? We have all decided that we each have a little masterchef inside of us. And well, you know how we feel about interiors. So when we read about or hear of a new venue with extraordinary aesthetic credentials to match their menu we go weak at the knees… and then run to the phone to make a booking.
I remember a time when anticipation would build waiting for the day your dinner reservation would roll round, knowing you would soon experience new food sensations. This still happens, but more and more eateries and drinking holes are delivering award worthy atmospheric spaces to boot. It is common for venue owners to take on architects, interior designers and decorators to create concept strong environments for their diners. And we’re not complaining one bit. Budgets are bigger and the looks are bolder. A venue brief is an exciting one, themes can be pushed to extreme heights and rules of traditional design can be broken. The culture of cuisine is highlighted through furniture, lighting and evocative accents. Some designs are risky but all of the perfect pairings between good food and good design work harmoniously because the food remains the lead act while the design delightedly supports.
Wow! Great article! It inspired me to make my own blog.
