Nestled quietly within its idyllic bush setting, the Luxury Weekend Haven by Detail 9 Architects is a ‘lock and leave’ weekend retreat that was designed to maximise both thermal comforts and to frame views. Being set amongst rolling hills in the Victorian country, the site also had its challenges but the team created a workaround through these constraints and turned them into fresh aesthetics and stunning design opportunities. See for yourself and have a quick tour of this incredible pad!
“Our clients’ brief was simple, a weekend haven, low-maintenance, with the ability to expand and contract as needed. With such a simple set of requirements, the home was designed as a comfortable and low maintenance retreat for the owners throughout the year with the ability to easily expand and accommodate friends and relatives when needed.” – Detail 9 Architects
Internally, the spaces have been designed to maintain the connection to each room and also the outdoors. Floors, walls, and fabrics are kept white, light, and natural, allowing daylight to playfully bounce around and help the space achieve a seemingly larger appearance.
The open deck which links each of the pavilions and enables the home to be opened up to a generous platform that created an extended vista of the surrounding and provides the perfect space to stretch out and enjoy the great outdoors.
“The home was oriented to maximise both thermal comforts and to frame views. Each room in the house frames an entirely different part of the exquisite landscape which can change from tranquil rolling hills to dry landscape in a season. The pavilion design has enabled the owners to create a garden which seamlessly integrates with the home.” – Detail 9 Architects
The Luxury Weekend Haven by Detail 9 Architects is a great example of using basic, yet effective design elements that seamlessly merge together and creates an aesthetically pleasing and functional abode.
