Hey everyone. I have got a gorgeous family home for you to have a snoop through today. It is a solid brick Edwardian, on a huge block of land in Kew. Let’s go take a look.
Straight off the bat, this home has a really lovely feel to it. I love the generous proportions of all the rooms, especially the bedrooms. They all have these beautiful window details as well. In fact, all of the windows in this home are really quite special and they all look out onto gorgeous gardens. I mean we are in the suburbs here, but honestly, if you were just surrounded by garden, you don’t feel like you’re living on top of anyone else.
This home is in fact planted dead centre in the middle of a huge block. So you’re literally surrounded by greenery.
“When I was looking for a house to buy, I really wanted to find a house that had a driveway and garage, and can I just say that’s really hard to come by in Melbourne. This place has that, and then some. I mean it’s got a carport. It’s got a shed out the back. Plus, you’ve got heaps of room for the kids with that awesome play area and plenty of room for trees.”
That open plan living, kitchen and dining has a north-facing aspect and looks out onto those beautiful gardens. You’ve got the huge formal living area and those huge bedrooms, which was very typical of Edwardian homes. Also typical of Edwardian homes, was the solid red brick exterior with those embellish wooden details.
You’ve got the amazing stained glass windows, which are pretty much seen in all of those rooms, especially towards the front of the home. The detail continues with the ceiling roses, the timber skirting and cornices, as well as those amazing, intricate fireplaces and mantle.
