Hi everyone! I have a delicious tropical treat for you today. I am in Padang Padang on Bali’s Bukit peninsula. This is a modern yogi’s tropical paradise and I can’t wait to show you inside. So, come on, let’s go.
Well, isn’t this house a cool drink of water? I told you it was a tropical modern yogi’s paradise and… I’m right! This is a fun yogi. This is someone that’s down to dog, but also down to party. It’s got that beautiful dedicated yoga space, all about tranquil relaxation. But then you come in here, and it’s just an entertainer’s paradise. And I love it! It’s so much fun. There is just so much of a healthy balance here. It is just an incredibly fun and happy home.
“The thing that hits you as soon as you walk in, first of all, just the size of the pool, the beautiful colours, the garden. That warm mural as soon as you come in is just heaven, it’s modern, it’s fun, it’s fresh. And then a yoga studio. There’s a yoga studio in the home! I mean, I’ve always said, when I build my home, I’m going to have a yoga studio. I’ve never said that, but now I do. This is incredible. I think it’s fantastic. I love that it’s not hidden away either. I love that it’s just open, and it also doubles as a dance floor. So, winning. And that hammock. Oh my God, that double size hammock is beautiful. There’s such a lovely breeze coming through there. It is so peaceful lying there looking out into the beautiful pool. It’s just heaven on Earth.”
And then the kitchen, dining, and living is awesome. So the flooring is really, really fun. It’s this beautiful terrazzo chevron pattern. It’s got these wonderful flecks of turquoise. It reflects, again, the greenery that’s going on in nature and the surrounds. I love it. The décor is fantastic. All these pieces have been sourced locally, and they’ve all been custom made. That beautiful dining table is just heaven. Incredible timbers, matched with the beautiful rattan. And there are lovely, soft pop up colours here, there, and everywhere. It’s done really, really well. It’s nothing over the top, but there are lovely hints of colour.
Speaking of colour, ah, the colour in the bathrooms is awesome! So each bedroom and each bathroom has its own little colour scheme. And I love that. Each one feels a little bit different; it’s a little bit of a different slice of paradise. Tiles in the bathrooms each with different shapes, each with different colours. I think that’s really clever. And oh my God, that bathtub! That bathtub is absolutely insane. That was actually poured here onsite. The owner did a lot of work to get that pink just right, and it is just the right type of pink. It is so, so good. Normally, I wouldn’t be down with a pink tub. But that is an awesome tub.
The terrazzo tub matches the terrazzo floor. There’s a bit of terrazzo going on everywhere, and I love it! It’s not too over the top, but it’s just the right amount. I mean, can you ever have too much? You can’t. This house is basically all open plan, which is pretty much what Bali’s all about. I mean, there’s not much point in shutting everything off unless you’ve just got your air conditioning blasting all day. But if you have everything open, you’ve got a lot of beautiful breeze coming through, and it really helps to cool down that space.
“This home has a really modern, chill, surfy vibe to it, but it also has a lot of traditional Bali elements as well. It’s got this incredible pitched, thatch roof which is just divine. It’s got incredible carved timber detailing, as well as these beautiful printed textiles and wonderful colours throughout, these amazing fabrics, which Bali really is known for. A lot of these were made locally in Ubud and in surrounding areas. And I love that the owner has celebrated a bit of that modern, but has also reflected a lot of that traditional Bali décor as well.”
Those beautiful murals, which is actually a friend of the owners, came in from LA, and she painted those amazing murals that you see in the bathroom, and also in that yoga studio as well. You can tell the owner is really well travelled because there are just these beautiful pieces that have been collected throughout. Both pieces from Bali, but also other parts of the world as well. There are just incredible personal touches littered around. Everything has a story. Everything has a place. And I think that’s really lovely. This home is just the ultimate surfer’s paradise! It’s about relaxation. It’s about entertaining. It’s fun, it’s happy, and it’s the ultimate home away from home.
