Holy Smokes! We may have just found the perfect place for entertaining. Designed by the clever folks at Lachlan Shepherd Architects, Lahinch House is home to Angie, Vic and their Dalmatian Pirate. Located in Torquay, Victoria, this one of a kind property operates firstly as a home to it’s full-time occupants, but secondly as a luxury hotel for their family and friends who are regularly “checking in”.
With unique hotel-like elements, the guest bedrooms function as stylish suites, each with their own ensuite and robe areas.
The central living space has been beautifully constructed to offer spacious open-plan living. Free from walls, the lounge, kitchen, dining and sitting zones are instead separated by visual elements, take the lounge area for example, which is designated by a sunken space.
The open-plan kitchen and living spaces are cleverly complimented by the adjacent plunge pool, which is heated year-round for maximum enjoyment and practicality. In addition, the floor to ceiling windows that wrap around the lower floor offer unobstructed views of what essentially feels like a private garden of rolling golf greens and sand dunes.
Whilst the design and construction of the building is highly detailed and technical, the home itself represents an honest, low-maintenance and warm home.
