It’s kitchen makeover time! Episode 3 of our Reno Goals series is all about kitchen design. Arguably the most important room in the house… no pressure of course. Whilst the original kitchen was a decent size it was outdated, had little storage and was not very functional. This was a total start from scratch makeover. We needed a blank canvas to add more functional cabinetry, replace all appliances to be more efficient and update the design to fit with our new look dining room. So no small feat for us this week, watch the full makeover and see the full list of products we used below.
This kitchen makeover was a BIG one, but let’s break it down to see exactly what we used in order to make this design work. Firstly, like most of the existing home we needed to insulate and reclad the walls. We insulated using CSR Bradford Gold insulation batts for external walls and Soundscreen for internal walls. We clad using EasyVJ100 from Easycraft Panels and finished with a subtle Porta trim. On the floor we laid Precinct Oak Floorboards in Bora from Carpet Court. For the paint we kept a warm neutral tone throughout with Sago Dulux Wash&Wear on the walls, Natural White half Ceiling White and Natural White Aquanamel for the trims.

Custom Cremasala & Spiced Oak Kaboodle Kitchen cabinets, Kintore Brass Pull from Lo&Co Interiors, Topus Concrete Benchtop from Caesarstone and Albert Park Vanilla Subway tiles from Tile CloudDIY Arch Repurposed Shelf, Tondina Pop Stools from Baseline Furniture, Coco Mini Pendant from CocoFlip
We did a lot of DIY projects to create this kitchen. We assembled all the Kaboodle Kitchen cabinets which relied heavily on the Ryobi 18V ONE+ Impact Driver and Hammer Drill. To create the DIY arch shelf we used Ryobi 254mm Dual Bevel Sliding Mitre Saw and Orbital Sander. To cut down the timber shelves we used the Ryobi 1800W Table Saw and the Caulking Gun was used to glue and gap fill to finish.
We began from scratch with new cabinetry, I customised cabinetry using the Bunnings Kitchen Design service. I combined Cremasala Alpine profile with Spiced Oak Modern profile from Kaboodle Kitchen. For the handles I added Kintore Pull in Brass from Lo&Co Interiors. We chose all new appliances from Electrolux to be more efficient including fridge, cooker, rangehood, integrated dishwasher and microwave.

I’m a complete design rookie looking to reno my kitchen and was wondering if you have the layout specs listed anywhere?
Trying to come up with a length for the peninsula island as well as how far it is from the opposite wall
