They say that first impressions make a lasting impression and this home definitely made a mark on us. Nest Architects were the team behind the modern extension of the Harold Street House. They wanted to bring a timeless aesthetic to this traditional inner Melbourne home, to which they definitely achieved. This predominantly came down to their choice of materials ensuring that they used materials that would not go out of style. With a simple, muted colour palette the home has almost a slight 1970s retro feel to it and we are about one heart beat away from taking our shoes off and making ourselves comfortable…
“We really wanted the extension to this very typical inner-urban house in Melbourne to be timeless. No tricks, no gimmicks, just a great renovation that will never grow old.” Said Nest Architects “The whole carpentry and kitchen were designed in the same simple line, without trying to overwhelm you with too many details. All the structural elements, arrangements, finishes and interior design elements have become a background of the owner’s daily life.”
What brings this house to life is undoubtedly its cosy decor, with pops of colour, personal objects and well maintained plants bringing energy to each corner. Styled by Esther Stewart, we love how this home portrays minimalist style with loads of personality! Each object on the constructed shelving seems to have a story to tell and makes the home feel inviting.
