George Takes Ten
1. Pleasantries first – tell us a bit about who you are and what you do.
I’m an Australian/Brit who lives in Melbourne. I work as the Design Manager for GlobeWest which means I lead the creative design and direction for the business alongside a fantastic team of people.
2. When I was growing up I wanted to be…
A Ballet dancer, it was my all consuming passion when I was young but I damaged my back so couldn’t continue unfortunately. It meant that I focused on Art when I was in my last years at school instead of dance practice. I ended up studying printmaking at the Victorian College of the Arts and then went on to do another degree in Textile Design at RMIT.
3. What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Breathe. A good friend imparted these wise words to me once- “What other people think of you is none of your business”.
4. What is your favourite outlet to get the creative juices flowing?
It’s probably a common answer but looking at art always inspires me. And travel always gets my mind whizzing, nothing like getting yourself out of your usual environment to push your boundaries. And then pencil and paper to get it down onto something as quickly as possible.
5. What does your average work day look like?
When I’m being good first thing its Meditation or yoga then tea. If I’m not being good it begins with the Tea! Then I check Instagram, blogs etc, and spend a lot of time on emails. I catch up with the team to share ideas, designs and discuss new products we are working on. At the moment we are planning our catalogue so there’s lots of planning for shoots as well. Then more time on email and usually I go back into a creative space at the end of the day researching and bringing ideas together.
6. If you could invite any five celebrities to dinner, who’s dining?
David Hockney, Coco Chanel, James Cordon, Maya Angelou & Chris Martin
7. What was the last rule you broke?
Can’t tell you that one…I’d get into too much trouble!
8. What’s one thing other people may not know about you?
My ‘dream’ job would be to be a Hotel Critic like Britain’s television show The Hotel Inspector!
9. What was the last movie you saw and was it any good?
I’ve been on a plane a lot recently and can’t recall the last one I saw but remember enjoying “The Wife” with Glenn Close, she really steals the show.
10. You’ve got a week off, where are you going?
New Zealand. Surrounded by stunning scenery, somewhere remote and relaxing.

“In The Zone”
”This is part some of my “In the zone playlist”, stuff I can concentrate with in the background and then a few tracks that change my mood when I need a change of pace.“ – Keti
