Local Legends, Camp Cope are one of many fantastic, all Girl, Rock’n’Roll groups popping up around Australia in the last year or two and are certainly one of my favourites.
Speaking of Girls who Rock, there’s a terrific initiative here in Melbourne called ‘Girls Rock’ that aims to address the gender inequality in Music by supporting & encouraging female, trans, and non-binary gendered youth aged 12-17 to pick up instruments and get involved in making Music. ‘Girls Rock’ are hosting their inaugural day camp, where these kids will form bands, learn instruments, write original songs, attend workshops, watch lunchtime performances, and make friends with like-minded people. On the sixth day, they will play their newly-written songs at a great, big showcase gig!
The gig is Saturday afternoon at The Bella Union in Carlton. It’ll be a great show and you’ll be supporting a wonderful organisation at the same time.
