September is just around the corner and we can’t wait until the Spring season officially starts! It’s nature’s way of saying ‘it’s time to party!’ …isn’t it? Well at least that’s what we think! Say goodbye to your grumpy ‘It’s cold and I wanna be anti-social’ behaviour and say hello to ‘Oh my gosh I just felt sun on my skin and now everyone’s invited to my place’ attitude. There is a little host in all of us and by the time we’re done here you know you’ll be the host with the most… So grab your phone, invite all your family and friends around to your place and let’s get stuck into a few ideas to make your Spring Entertaining memorable.
Venue? Check. You’ve dusted, tidied, done your Spring Cleaning and you’re ready to open your doors.
Guests? Check. Your mates are awesome and they love a party, so no problem there.
Now what? Let’s get you thinking about a few creative ideas on how to make your Spring Party 2018 extra special. Let’s do this…
1. Themed Parties
Ok before you start rolling your eyes, hear me out! Having a theme is fun. It is!! Having a theme will make your guests really excited for a good time (even if they say they’re not). I mean nothing says party like ‘BYO Sombrero’ amiright?! All jokes aside, you can decide how big or small you go with your theme. It could be a subtle twist with your food and table decorations, or you could go all out and ask your guests to dress up. You know your mates the best, so make sure you choose what’s right for you and your friends. But even the most serious of folks don’t mind a little fun every now and again… just saying.
So what are some goods ideas for a themed party? You could have an Afternoon Tea Party in the Garden. Tea parties are always about the finer details. For the menu you will want to whip up something delicious and sweet. For your table decor don’t forget to layer different fabrics like table clothes, table runners and beautiful napkins. And of course, what is a tea party without tea? Here’s a few pieces from our shop perfect for an Afternoon Tea Party at your place:
Why not embrace the sunshine and throw a Mexican Fiesta?! A Mexican themed party is all about bright, colourful, fun and relaxed vibes. Make sure there are tacos on the menu, grill some prawns or chicken on the bbq so you can be apart of the action and still enjoy the party! You’ll also need an epic Guacamole to keep the masses happy and for the love of god, do NOT forget the hot sauce!! Feeling hot, hot, hot…
OR… are you reading this and thinking ‘Lucy are you serious? This is all just too hard’. Well then that’s ok too, let me switch gears and suggest a Zero F*cks Party, because you can never underestimate the company of great friends, a good bottle of wine and a sunny afternoon.
2. Munch On Something New
I am certainly no chef and the menu is the one thing that is guaranteed to freak me out when hosting a party. New recipes can pose a challenge even to the most experienced chefs and it can be extra intimidating when you add to that the liability of using an ingredient you have never tried before. Make sure you plan ahead and practice any new dish before serving to your guests. It’s always a good idea to get yourself familiar with the process and work out how to juggle any unfamiliar techniques and/or ingredients. Also if you need help don’t forget to ask for it! Your close mates will ALWAYS offer to bring something but instead of asking them to bring a plate along, why not ask one or two of your besties to come along an hour or two earlier to help prepare food with you?!
Here are some of our new cookbooks with loads of fresh new recipes to impress your guests…
3. Lucky Dip Goodie Bag!
You know what I loved MOST about going to parties when I was a kid? The goodie bag! Without fail the best part for me were the goodies I scored (is that bad? What does that say about me and my morals…) Anywho… When did goodie bag’s stop being a thing? And can I bring them back? I’m going to say yes, but instead of a goodie bag prepared by the host (because Lord knows you’ve already got your hands full). Why not a fun, light hearted gift exchange, Secret Santa style… it’ll be a Spring Lucky Dip. I mean, who doesn’t get excited about gifts? For this kind of party trick I would recommend giving a little bit of direction so guests have a basis to work off and are not embarrassed if they arrive with something that is totally different from what others have brought.
Set a price limit, it doesn’t have to be expensive!! Here are some of our top picks for the Best Gifts Under $20! Or shop from our full range of Gift Ideas here.
So here’s hoping you’re all nice and giddy and filled with ideas for your Spring Party. Good luck with the prep… we’ll assume to see our invite in the mail 😉
