Clare Plueckhahn gives new meaning to the term ‘multi-talented’. Having worked as a commercial surf photographer, her portfolio also covers food and fashion. As well as her photography work, she is also a director and co-owner of production company CosWeCan. To top this off, she also still finds time to experiment with her own personal folio of photographic work which is why we were so thrilled to snag her for our Hunting Collective collaboration.
There really is no other word to describe Clare’s underwater photography, other than breath-taking. Her images often capture someone falling, drifting and tumbling under water. The image that she has used on her Hunting Collective clock is quite a turbulent one given the enormity of the wave, however whilst turbulent it’s also a very calming image and one that can completely change depending on the light and how the image interacts with it.
When you see Clare’s photographs you can’t help but wonder what it’s like to actually be involved in this moment underwater capturing it all on camera “What I do, I don’t think I’d ever be able to do if I didn’t have a surfing or swimming background. I think that’s the reason why I first took the camera into the water, because I just loved surfing so much. I wanted to be able to get some work where I could go and surf at the same time.” Clare Plueckhahn.
