Do you know what makes us feel good? Colour! And today we have it in spades. Dulux, Australia’s leading paint manufacturer once again celebrates Australia and New Zealand’s premier inspirational colour application in built environments. Now in it’s 34th year, the 2020 Dulux Colour Awards shows commitment to the design and architectural community by recognising and rewarding creative and innovative thinking in industry projects.
“Architects and designers have set a new precedent with this year’s awards program submissions,” says Andrea LucenaOrr, Dulux Colour Planning and Communications Manager.
“They have exhibited original and masterful use of both colour and texture in their design approach, creating sophisticated interior and exterior spaces.”
There are a total of 6 categories namely Commercial Interior: Public and Hospitality; Commercial Interior: Workplace and Retail; Commercial and Multi-Residential Exterior; Residential Interior; Single Residential Exterior; and Student. With more than 450 entries received and some 107 named finalists, choosing the best among the best for each category will be both challenging and exciting. Residential Interior
This category includes the interior paint finishes of any building used as a private residence, including single and multi-residential projects.
Single Residential Exterior
This category includes the exterior paint finishes of any building used as a single private residence.
Commercial and Multi Residential Exterior
This category includes the exterior paint finishes of any commercial, industrial, education facility or multi-residential apartment building.
Commercial Interior – Public and Hospitality
This category includes the interior paint finishes of commercial or industrial buildings such as education facilities, community centres, healthcare facilities, museums, theatres, places of worship, cafes, restaurants, fitness centres, one-off installations, events, hotels and accommodation.
Commercial Interior – Workplace and Retail
This category includes the interior paint finishes of commercial or industrial buildings such as education facilities, community centres, healthcare facilities, museums, theatres, places of worship, cafes, restaurants, fitness centres, one-off installations, events, hotels and accommodation.
Student (Years 1 – 6)
This category includes paint specification by architecture or interior design students who are currently attending, or have completed within the past 12 months, a course at a recognised University or College.
So what do you think? Are you inspired yet? The judging panel will select Winners and Commendations across the six categories, with all category winners (excluding the Student category and New Zealand entrants), having the chance of taking home the Australian Grand Prix title and AUD $5,000. New Zealand entrants will have the chance of taking home the New Zealand Grand Prix title and NZD $5,000.
This year’s judging panel for the awards includes Adele Winteridge, Director of mFoolscap Studio; Jean-Pierre Biasol, Director of Biasol Design Studio; Jonathan Richards, Director of Richards Stanisich Architecture; Kathryn Robson, Director of Robson Rak Architects & Interiors; and Toni Brandso, Director of New Zealand’s Material Creative.
