1. What did you want to be when you grew up?

One of many things – a jockey, a Dr, a vet, Interior Designer – none eventuated.

2. When and what was the moment that prompted you to start your own brand?

My Hawaiian sister in law bought me a reed diffuser back from the states. This is going back over 10 years, when there were none on the market, which is hard to believe. We set about to create our own. A huge learning curve, but all of the following –

4. What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

It’s hard to be good at everything. Allow yourself to concentrate on what you are good at.

5. What is your favourite creative outlet to get the juices flowing?

This is an odd one. But actually Auction Houses – Collectables and curiosities to art. I don’t have to buy anything but I come away feeling inspired, my mind working overtime as to where things will perfectly fit. It’s my happy place that has a flow on effect to work.

6. Where do you see yourself and the brand in 10 years time?

Still in New Zealand with an International brand and teenage Children – yikes. Everything 10 years older but a well-oiled machine, we can hope.

7. If you could invite any 5 celebrities to dinner, who would be on the guest list?

8. What was the last rule you broke?

Using my phone at the airport while passing through customs. I was so embarrassed when my attention was directed to the large sign.

9. Do you have any hidden talents?

I can make a curry with good heat and can still do a headstand – do they count?

10. What was the last movie you saw and was it any good?

The Martian – and yes, would highly recommend it.
